Come fish the Missouri River in the big sky state of Montana with Rocky Outfitters. The Missouri River below Holter Dam is an outstanding tailwater fishery. Holter dam is located between Great Falls and Helena along I-15.
Holter Dams construction helps regulate the water flows on the beautiful Missouri River which creates a rich environment where the trout and insect populations thrive.
Rainbow trout are more predominant in the Missouri River and the chances of taking a fish around 20 inches are very good when you consider there are over 2,000 catchable fish per mile. With the trout numbers so high and the excellent hatches of Beatis, Trico's, PMD's, and Caddis on the river, it makes dry fly fishing the most exciting way to take a trout. This makes nymphing on the Missouri one of the most consistent ways to catch fish. Fishing streamers and woolly buggers can be a very productive and thrilling way to catch fish at times.
Rocky Outfitters is not just limited to the Missouri River. We also offer trips on the Sun River, Dearborn River, and area creeks if the idea of small stream fishing appeals to you. Arrangements to fish trophy trout waters such as the Madison River & Big Horn River can be made. Trips on these rivers must be at least 3 or more days.
